HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIAN

Yesterday was my grandson, Kian's, 8th birthday. Due to unforseen circumstances I didn't get to spend time with him on his birthday like I wanted, or get pictures like I wanted either. We have plans to do this later on. So today I'm honoring this very special boy here on my blog.

On a cold, snowy, January day, Kian came into this world. He was born a month premature with lungs that weren't developed enough and immediately taken to another hospital and put in an intensive care unit. Here he was attached to every tube and wire imaginable and the only contact we had at first was just touching his little hand. A very scary and heart wrenching time. It was about a week before I got to hold him the first time and then it was with all those tubes and wires still attached. But God had plans for this baby boy and in his short 8 years, he has blessed so many people especially his Granny.

When he was still a baby and came over for a visit, he would reach for me as soon as he saw me. When I took him in my arms, the first thing he would do was lay his little head on my shoulder and pat me gently on the back. He was saying "I love you, Granny" even then, without words. As he got older I would tell him I loved him and he would say, "Lu you too!"

This kid is a nut:

He's right out of a cartoon and makes me laugh:

He's such a cool kid:

He loves being silly with his cousin Claire:

And adores his cousin Collin:

Last year he lost his first tooth, and unlike most kids, loved to show off the gaping space:

Now he's looking so grown up..but he's still Granny's little man:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIAN! GRANNY LOVES YOU VERY MUCH!

Oh Hope, how CUTE! I am so sorry that you didn't get to be with him on the day, but, life is moments and not dates. It will be special when you do get to be with him. What is it with those rock and roll hands? My son does it too and I've seen bunches of boys doing the same thing. I feel so old and un-cool. He and my Daws would have so much fun together - he will be 7 this Saturday. I'll be emailing you in a bit - Jennifer

Good Evening Hope,
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to Kian. He is adorable. I'm sorry that he was born premature, but he sure looks healthy now. GOD was watching over him all the time. I can just tell how much you love him and that he loves you too. "THANK YOU" for sharing such wonderful pictures of your Grandson. I know your not one bit proud of him. LOL. Just kidding. Sorry you won't be with him on this day, but when you do get to be with him, it will be all the more special. I remember when our youngest daughter was younger, she was such a comedian and she still is to this day. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours. Have you heard from Lib today? I noticed she hasn't posted anything today. I hope she is okay and that they didn't lose power at their place last night.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hope, your posting for today made me smile, and I'm still smiling as I type this comment. Kian is such a handsome little boy, and I am so thankful that he has become a strong, healthy child.

Now you know you and I have talked about how much we have in common. Well, when you wrote about how Kian would reach out for you the minute he saw you and how he expressed his love for you at such a young age. Well, one of my grandsons (the one I am closest to) would do the same thing to me when he would first see me. He would reach his little arms out for me to take him, and this was when he was an infant, not even crawling. I wonder if that's why he is my favorite as none of the other grandkids acted that way toward me.

I hope everything is okay with you and Dave. I'm wondering since you said you didn't get to spent time with Kian on his birthday.

Hugs,
Betty
