Another Christmas corner

The big tree by the stairway is up. Unfortunately our stairway never got finished like we had planned so the whole thing looks...well...unfinished to me. :o We removed old carpet from the stairs, then the old glue which held the carpet. What a mess! Painting them will have to wait until after Christmas I guess. Oh well, the important thing is the looks in the grandchildren's eyes when they see it and the oohs and aahs I hear from them. That's all that matters...

Decorating continued..

The house has been semi-cleaned and a few more decorations done. I wanted to share my favorite little tree that I call my "Charlie Brown" tree. This year I'm using it in my kitchen with some small utensils for a cooking theme. These little utensils give it new life this year in spite of it's raggedy rag bows which look a little tired! To top it all off is one of my flea market finds, my gingerbread "woman" cookie cutter all dressed out in her red frock. I also wanted to share with you some of my real utensil collection which I have in an old wooden toolbox.

I'm so enjoying looking at the decorations of Tina at Cherry Hill Cottage. If you haven't already seen her adorable, country Christmas home, run on over there now.

I really must get back to work so until next time....

Christmas lights

The lights are up!! We only do them around the porch, so far. I have lighted wreaths in my front windows and I'd like to have them on each window someday. It's so hard to get a decent picture of the lights at night. It's hard to get a decent picture of our house at any time. We live on the upper side of the street on a bank which gives us a good view of the mountains above the neighbor's houses on the lower side. The drawback is you have to be over on that mountain to see our house straight on! It looks magical when you're standing on the porch in the midst of it all. The lights are all white, not different colors like my poor photography depicts.

Now my next step is to get started on the inside. Our closet under the staircase is packed to the gills with decorations. What a mess that is going to be when we drag that all out! I guess my next step should be to clean the mess I already have first, huh?

Here we go...

Okay, so I'm jumping in here with all my doubts, uncertainties and questions. Will I be able to make this blogger thingy work? If so, will I have anything to say that will interest other people and keep them coming back for more? Will I just get lost somewhere out there in Blogger Land and nobody will be able to find me?? I've been known as the Queen of Procrastination but it's time to change all that! I guess the first thing to do would be to get some words down then go from there.....
